Commercial development often includes large footprint projects with wide bays and unique spaces. Retail and hospitality projects often have tight schedules which require planning expertise and familiarity with construction methods to produce effective designs on short notice.
MRCE has archived geologic information and foundation details from a rich heritage of design projects to create a treasure of subsurface knowledge. The MRCE history is a powerful resource available to support tactical decisions before a shovel hits the ground. A major resource is experienced MRCE engineers focused on the design of geo-structures using current design tools to implement the latest construction methods. MRCE designs deliver innovative, practical, cost efficient solutions for commercial development in challenging site conditions.
The ultra modern, 14-story Marriot Marquis DC hotel is located on a triangular site adjacent to three existing structures, including the historic Plumber’s Union building that was incorporated into the hotel.
MRCE provided innovative geotechnical foundation engineering services, including the design of a seven-level basement constructed by the "Top-Down Method." The excavation was 94 feet deep below ground, nearly equal to the height of the building.
East River Plaza, located on the site of the former Washburn Wire Factory, just off the FDR Drive is a 6.5 acre retail development in Manhattan and is home to Costco, Target, Best Buy, Marshalls, Old Navy, PetSmart, and many other retailers.
MRCE performed geotechnical subsurface investigations, provided foundation recommendations and foundation construction engineering services.
