Hunters Point South Development - Buildings F and G
Hunters Point South Mega Project is New York’s largest affordable housing development, located on the waterfront. Phase II included Building F, a 57-story tower with a single below-grade parking level, and Building G, a 33-story tower at grade. The project also involved infrastructure work, including the installation of sewers, water mains, roadways, sidewalks, and parking areas. Additional amenities include a new school, retail space, and parking. Site challenges included remnants of previous structures and foundations, as well as multiple East River crossings, including the Amtrak/LIRR railroad tunnels, the Queens Midtown Tunnel, and the NYC Transit #7 subway tunnel.
MRCE provided geotechnical and structural foundation engineering services for Phase II, which included conducting a subsurface investigation, designing a complex excavation support system, and developing drilled and driven foundations, and special inspections during excavation support and foundation construction.
