Lead Geotechnical Engineer
Lead Geotechnical Engineer, needed at Washington, DC headquarters:

The Lead Geotechnical Engineer with Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers PLLC will perform interpretation of geological conditions and sections, as well as prepare reviews and reports of geotechnical information; Main worksite located at 515 M Street SE, Suite 210, in Washington, D.C.  MRCE is one of the nation’s oldest engineering firms practicing in the field of foundation engineering, Structural engineering, and the design of waterfront structures.  Position reports to Principal Engineer.

Specific Tasks will include:
  • Analyze and perform inspection of split-spoon borings, rock coring and cone penetrometer testing;
  • Review geotechnical information and prepare reports of same;
  • Perform permeability testing in observation wells as well as cross-hold seismic shear wave velocity measurements;
  • Analyze finite element modeling, shallow foundation design, deep foundation design and retaining structure design;
  • Conduct construction inspection, vibration monitoring during construction process and building condition surveys;
  • Analyze and conduct soil index laboratory testing as well as contour generation, load calculations, slope stability and settlement analysis;
  • Analyze seismic site-specific response and liquefaction assessment studies;
  • Prepare design documents, contract drawings and instrumentation design;
General, Minimum Requirements:

Master’s Degree Geotechnical Engineering, Civil engineering, or closely related field, or its foreign equivalent plus 2 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, or related role.  Position also requires licensing as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering by at least one state granting agency. 

Special Requirements:

Must possess in depth knowledge via experience or academic training to include:  boring inspection; geotechnical report preparation; shallow foundation design and deep foundation design; retaining structure design, and settlement analyses; slope stability analyses; geotechnical earthquake engineering and finite element modeling.
